I have finally had to do some ironing. The pile had grown to over 5ft tall - all folded as little as I could to make it look smaller - but I had nothing to go out in so have just spent a considerable time chained to iron and ironing board.

Does anyone else just leave jobs until they have to do something?

I make procrastination an art form.
Me too.

Not procrastination just found so much I preferred to.

At least I'm not alone in my endeavours.
Surely if you fold something smaller, you make it taller in height. Just saying :-)

Ken - sorry I was not very clear. I did say I folded everything as little as possible to make the height of the pile less.

(Note to self - express thoughts and actions more clearly.)
Had no choice in the army, LJ, everything that could be folded to 9ins across, was folded 9ins across. Or else:-(
Yes. It all came back to haunt me 2 days before mg daughter's visit. After spending weeks painting my room, the stairwell, impulsively doing the under stairs area, my kitchen cabinets, floor, and 3/4 up the walls...I HAD to do some cleaning and tidying. Painting gear everywhere, things needed putting away, dusting and hoovering needed done...and done again.
Now, I need to finish the kitchen walls and some stair spindles...but I have such a nice, clutter free flat. Until the next major project takes my fancy.
I haven't ironed anything since I moved to my parents. I just go out in creased stuff but that will change when I move at the end of July, beginning of August.
I used to have major problems trying to control my ironing mountain, but the solution to it was simple. I got rid of the iron and started to buy clothing that doesn't get creased.

My motto is...never put off 'til tomorrow what you can put off 'til the day after!
I haven't done ironing in years. But I delay work paperwork as much as I can... far longer than it takes to actually do :-)
I bought an iron about twenty years ago and have used it twice - both times to smooth out creased ribbons on rosettes for a dog show. I have now got a little gadget that steams them so I don't even need to do that now. I suppose I could use it for any clothes if I had anything that warranted ironing.
Can someone explain "ironing" to me please.
I'm equally confused, Barmaid!
Barmaid, an ironing pile is a pressing engagement.
No, Choux. A 'pressing engagement' is betrothal to a steam iron.
Lol Choux.

We moved here in December. It has just occurred to me that I have no idea where the iron or ironing board are.
you need the latest apple product LJ, there is the I-phone, I-pod, I-pad and now, the I-ron!
Barmaid, you can have my board and iron. I havevNO use for it at all .:-)
>>> I have no idea where the iron or ironing board are

We all know where you lost your ironing board, Barmaid ;-)
