Good Cat?

Ours is exceptionally good. Take this: like many, we eat our main meal seated in our favourite armchairs with a cushion on our laps.

Come mealtimes, Black Cat is always curled up on one armchair, which is also HIS favourite. I hold up one of the mealtime cushions, say “Time now puss,” and 99% of the time up he gets, stretches, and pads off into the evening.

His only reward is to be called “Good Cat.”

I’ve always found black cats to be very sensitive.

Spath you are wrong regarding the fox and chickens according to David Attenborough. Left to its own devices, undisturbed, the fox will come back time after time until it has taken all its kill and buried the bodies to be eaten later. I heard him saying it is when they are disturbed they leave their kill behind. Also, many poor chickens do not have good enough protection.
And foxes do a lot of good in the countryside by taking thousands of rabbits which eat and destroy farmers' crops. Some farmers are actually pleased to have a fox on their land.
What good do cats do except as companions to us humans?

I don't believe I have, Ummmm, not initially. Other people have not been precluded from joining in. Bill can add to this anytime he likes as can anyone else.

Sparklykid, I said...'sensible question'.

OK Spath so you know better than Sir David Attenborough who has carried out many tests/experiments and found what I said in my earlier post to be the truth. ie if all the bodies have not been removed it is because the fox was disturbed.

// ...cats eat at home and go out killing things for 'fun'.
No other animal does that. //

I've not read the other responses...but. Cats...domestic or otherwise ARE predators. It's instinctive to hunt, kill, and eat. But if they've already been well fed they will not eat for the sake of it. Just as at home...they will eat their fill, unlike dogs that will eat because "its there ".

...witches...cats...Black Death
I could go on.
My cat is a devious, manipulative, evil, affectionate little so and so.

He does kill. He eats his kill (well most of it and the rest gets put out for the red kites). He doesnt lower himself to mess with the garden birds. He kills rats, mice, rabbits and the occassional game bird. The local farmer loves him because he is always in one of his grain stores killing the rats.

hereIam - I don't know. I like dogs.
I've got a cat rescued after living under a car for 2 years and he's lovely, a good boy really. He's been with me for 15 months now and he plays out all day in the garden and just over the other side of my fence and comes as soon as he's called. He tires himself out during the day and he's kept in at night and sleeps right through until I get up. Immediately I sit up he presents himself for bit of fuss.
I had two lovely cats who would share my lap or curl up around each of my ears if I was lying down. When I got up they wouldn't complain. They'd get up and follow me around the house until I sat down again.
The female used to tap me gently on the face to wake me up for breakfast. I miss them.
