That's what happened to my GSD, Brenda.

It got to the point where she couldn't get up at all and was dragging herself about by her front legs, in very obvious pain. I had no hesitation in calling the vet, who came to the house and gently put her to sleep.

Good idea Tilly. It is devastating to loose them. Just talking about him to family now. Remembering when he was a puppy and jumped in his weetabix!

Oh Brenda. I hope Ben is ok. Magic did put up a fight bless him but he was in so much pain :-(( xx

Thoughts are with you and yours J, it's never easy, but for the best in the long run, it's the last act of kindness we can do for them.

So true Baldric thank you x
So sorry to hear that, our golden retriever (age15) developed similar symptoms, but still carried on for several months in a rather quiet way but as a slower dog and seemed quite happy. One day he went out into the garden in the sunshine and laid down and just died peacefully without a struggle. I still miss him.

Recently I've had to have our 14 year old terrier put down, he was a sparky little dog and I miss him so much.

I know how you all feel.
So sorry to hear you news jubieanna I think everybody who posts in A & N has been through this at some time and we all know what it feels like.
Tilly, both my GSD's went the same way. It's heartbreaking when when you first spot those little signs and know that what ever you do things will only get worse.
Yes. paddy, it is.
