My sister-in-laws golden retriever is 12 years old. he is whimpering when he moves and panting. his chin is wet and his tummy is going in and out when he is breathing.
have rung the vet who said to bring him to emergency surgery tomorrow at 12. does anyone know what the symptoms could be?
I wanted him seen tonight because it sounds serious. any help ABers?

Thank you

Yes they can be such a worry. I bet your S-in-L is wagging her tail now as well at his improvement:-)

She sure is ladybirder :-)
Thanks Tilly. Fingers and paws crossed it is something that can be sorted. he is quite sprightly for an oldie normally.
Glad to hear he's a bit perkier today - hopefully the anti-inflammatory's will do their magic on 'Magic'. Fingers crossed for a good result after the scan. All the best x

Good news all. Swelling gone down in Magic's stomach. anti-inflammatory's did their job. Vet said no need to scan him as whatever it was seems to have settled down :-)) We have to keep a close eye on him in case it flares up again and if it does then he will definitely scan him.
Thank you so much everyone for all the good wishes and concern xx woof from Magic xx
