They harm nothing and are great for getting rid of slugs in the summer. Why dislike them?
Send them over to me Conn, they're my favourite. They live under my hedge and in the log and twig pile which i built as a haven for them. Why. Because they eat up all my slugs!

PS...there is no such thing as a 'bad' animal...they all have a purpose in nature.
careful they don't turn against you...

But yes, I feel the same way about foxes, loathesome creatures.
I wish I had a whole load of them in my garden. Send them ALL to me. I LOVE them. They do no harm whatsoever and they do nothing but good. They are lovely creatures.
Send them to me !! Love hedgies in my garden....have even asked tiggywinkle hospital if I could adopt some ! They are so good to have....
I have two hedgehogs that have lived in my garden for the last ten years. Obviously not the same ones, they don't live that long, but there is always two. I don't get bothered by slugs and snails though. I do put food out for them and they are used to me being there and will come up to me. they are beautiful little creatures!
Why are you terrified of them Connemmara ? Can't understand you here.
Another pro hedgehog vote from me - they are beautiful, harmless slug eating bundles of nature that I wish no harm to.
They are soooo cute, just look at their faces and they need lots of help from us. I can't knock you for being irrationally scared though, I'm terrified of spiders and lots of ABers can't understand that either.
Cute little fellas they are!
i wish we had loads of heggies. unfortunately i have not seen signs of any. they could be so happy here as we have mosre slugs than i ever knew existed. i would even provide them with des res.

note to heggies. this is a lovely place to live.
I share the others curiousity as to why they terrify you, but what I'm really baffled by is you describing them as 'not good animals', why do you say that?

I actively encourage them into my garden and put food out for them each night.

Conne, what frightens you? They do no harm, and they certainly don't pose a threat to humans. They eat slugs and other things which spoil our gardens. OK they can look a bit scary but they're not dangerous. Dogs do bark at them, mostly because they don't know what to do with them, dogs know they are prickly!
I think they're very cute little animals. Never see them where I live but would love to.
Have to agree they are lovely little animals, you don't have to touch them so why terrified, they are mostly wary of humans anyway and rarely come near you. Good for the garden and should be looked after I feel.
Go to your local hedgehog rescue centre, you are obviously in need of hedgehog therapy.
