Saturday. Some tealeaf has nicked all the snow. S'all gorn! I've been outside and it is positively balmy. The sky is clear and the moon is full and bright. A sunny day on it's way methinks. With a bit of luck it will be worth opening the heritage Centre! :o}

Have a happy day everyone.

Question Author
You're welcome minty xxx I hope it is some comfort to you.
Got a Zumba class at 8am and again at 1.30pm. Must be mad !
Minty: did you have your haggis last night? Despite being miles away from my native Edinburgh, I still always have my haggis, neeps and tatties on Burns night and on St Andrew's Day. Being a vegetarian, I of course, have a veggie haggis with my neeps and tatties. I know I know...veggie haggis...something of an oxymoron surely ! I can get them here from Waitrose. They're the MacSween ones and are very good but I always usually get them sent to me from Crombies of Broughton Street. I much prefer them. Always yummy on a cold Winter's night.
Question Author
Jan, I like that. Veggie haggis. Wonderful. :o}

St. Patrick's day for me. Also my youngest son's birthday. :o}
Jan...when I lived away mum would send me red cross parcels ..pies and haggis from Crombies ! still there.....have had the veggie haggis, good too....MacSweens plant is in Loanhead about half mile away from mum...now the home of haggis...
Boaty...you eat haggis on st. Patrick's day ?'.......lol...
Question Author
Nah! Irish stew! :-D A pint or two of Liffey water and a Tullamore Dew or six! :o}
do you still have leprechaun like accent ? ....lol
Minty: Loanhead? I have friends in Park Crescent. I didn't know that MacSween had moved there. Last I knew, they had their shop in Bruntsfield. Maybe they've still got that too. It was quite famous I think.
Boaty: you should try haggis, if you haven't already ventured into that world of mystery...

Vera noticed that when we got on the ferry to go over to Ireland, the accent would gradually come out. By the time we got to Dublin it was in full flow. I didn't notice, but she did. It would be there all the time we were in Ireland, and the reverse would occur on the return ferry, so that it had gone by the time we got to Pembroke Dock.

I have tried it jan, in army days in Malaya we were invited to the Scots Guards Sergeant's Mess for Burn's night. Always good fun. We invited them to our mess on various other occasions.
park crescent...know folks there too...small world....McSweens have been in Loanhead maybe ten years or more now...where Bilston GLen used to be....everything in Loanhead now you would not recognise it....not the wee village I grew up in any longer..
Question Author
It's called 'progress' minty. Not always for the best is it!
