Your avatar is lovely, sibton.

I just wanted you to know that I, too, have a long haired GSD. She is my second GSD but I won't have another long haired one when she goes.
My next GSD will a short haired, hopeful, it will be easier to keep clean!

When it changes there's a picture we took at four weeks when we went to pick him and he looked nothing like a GSD just a little ball of fluff, but he grew into big fine boy. In regards to grooming he loved it and would stand all day except for a spot right at the base of his tail but I always put that down to the time he got a load of burdock stuck and we ended up having to cut...

Pictures please Tilly, I love GSD's but unfortunately we lost Max at nearly eleven years old in March. We still miss him.
Question Author
I can't do pictures, paddy but my 'baby' doesn't look that different from Max, except she is smaller, probably.
Paddy, Tilly I have loads of pics but until one of the two whiz kids come down I can't put them on here. They are the most intelligent, loyal and loving breed. Mine died age 13 about30 years ago and I still miss him. I make do with daughter's 4 and son's 2 cats
Paddy, I think I told you about him when Max died. And, Tilly everytime I see the replica of you avatar, I go, there's Tilly, OH thinks I know a lot of Tillys
They're beautiful animals Tilly, I like most dogs but I've always thought GSD's outstanding. Max was my second but we've always had them in the family.
Question Author
sibton, we both need a masterclass in using tinypics, I think. I've got loads of pictures on my laptop but haven't done anything with them.

My babe, is like my shadow. Everywhere I go, in the house or garden she goes.
She's lying under my chair at the moment but when I go into the kitchen she will follow me. She even follows me into the bathroom.
I noticed your avatar too sibton - he's lovely.

Oh dear paddywak I didn't realise that you'd lost Max - your avatar is one of my favourites - what a fine handsome lad he was. I'm so sorry to hear that.
Thank you JMR, even now I get tearful. Tilly I had him from he was 3 months old, the runt of the litter, although the vet wanted him. He looked like a white woolly lamb at that age but grew into the most handsome dog ever mind you the amount of hair filled so many bags over the years

[I know paddy! It's the trousers I find most difficult to keep nice. She doesn't like that part being brushed. And the tail is a nightmare. She seems to collect a thistle every time she goes for a walk.

In regards to grooming he loved it and would stand all day except for a spot right at the base of his tail but I always put that down to the time he got a load of burdock stuck and we ended up having to cut them out, and as for hoovering I think we used to fill a bag every couple of days.
Oh he looks so beautiful
woof woof!! Can I have a scooby snack?
Tilly, please award paddy best answer for that beautiful puppy
Question Author
Yes, he does.

Why don't you both get another one? None of my business, I know, but I could not be without my dogs. I've had dogs for the past thirty six years, some rescue, some from breeders. The last four have all been rescue. The next one will be from rescue.

O.K. sibton. Done.
Tilly I have to help out regularly with 2 Schnauzers and 2 fox terriers, save plastic bags for scoops
To tell the truth both Trish and I would love another but neither of us is in the best of health and we feel we might not be able to give a dog, especially a big dog like a GSD, the time and exercise they need. We have discussed it though and we've agreed that we couldn't handle a puppy so who knows, in a couple of months we might take a ride to one of the local breed rescue centres and see who's looking for a loving home.
Tilly, thank you for a lovely thread that brought back so many happy memories and cupid, you can have some of the dog biscuits I keep in the cloakroom. Paddy much love to you anf Trish
