i've watched bits and pieces slinky, but watching this mornings running marathon had me in tears watch the last man struggling on. I really was very choked up and couldnt talk. Couldnt believe that it made me cry.
I have really enjoyed it kate!! Didn't think I would get so into it!!!! very well done to all and I am looking forward to watching the closing ceremony!!! :o)

if its anything like the opening ceremony it should be great.
it has been two splendid weeks.

sorry it's finished.
I enjoyed every minute of it and watched all sorts from trampolining to moutain bike racing. Fantastic.
I have loved it so much. The competitors and their sheer joy at being there. The spectators and the tales from family and friends who were there...esp. daugther who watched Mo from the start line. The organisation which was apparently fantastic.
And, as a non Brit, I love that Britain has done this so very, very well and can be proud of Britain and these Olympics.
it's awe inspiring to see soooo any people taking part, their achievement & all the prep work that got them there to stat with !! .. go kids .. be inspired, seek to achieve ..
Yes, I enjoyed them
I think the GB team has done us proud.
I heard mention in one of the men's 4x4 relay that one man, (not British I think), had broken his leg whilst running but still finished his run.
Anyone else hear that?
I enjoyed it too, it isn't something I thought I would watch. I'm not a sports fan really. I'm pleased that we won a decent amount of medals, and that there seemed to be national pride in it all.
I think it's been one of the most memorable events of my lifetime and I feel personally uplifted by the efforts of ALL our athletes, not just the medal winners. I'm particularly proud of the Yorkshire ones tho.
Rubbish .... roll on next week ... X Factor
Bet on the winner Mike?
Mick! sorry....blame the wine.x
usual fiver ?
Yep.
I hope you backed Rory Mike
Enjoyed bits of it but it dragged on too long

Roll on next weekend cos football's back

(cue footy-hating moaners and whingers)
Just found details of the runner with the broken leg in the 1600 metre heats.
American Manteo Mitchell. Ran with a broken fibula and got the USA through to the final where they won a silver.
I reckon he must be hailed a hero in America.
I started as a sceptic (because of all the corporate sponsorship botox) - but actually enjoyed it enormously, especially some of the 'minority' sports which don't normally get much airtime.

My heart rate was probably higher than Mo's at the end of the 5,000 metres yesterday.
