I have 1 cat and two kittens (who are just a year old now) and we have had some trouble...

I have a neighbours cat (from about 10 houses away) that has come in TWICE in last three days.. once at 5am and attacked our older cat (lots of noise... fur everywhere and poor Harvey wet himself) then the bastard cat came back again at 4am this morning.

I keep our cats in each night.. and block the cat flap (tunnel) with cushions to stop them getting out...

What can I do to stop this other cat getting in? He is sooo aggressive.
I am going to visit the owners tomorrow to see if the cat is neuteured...
I know he attacks another neighbbours cat too in their own home.

maybe i coudl ask the owners to try feeding it the food I feed mine.. seeing as it might be coming in to eat theirs!

apologies for spellings.. bloody tired!!!
i don't understand if you have a locking cat flap why you need cushions as well - just lock it. If the lock dosen't work just get a new one

bednobs.. I have three Houdinis... and have bought many cat flaps!!! they just smash them off!!!! I swear they have crowbars!!!

They can move TWO kitchen bins and pull two cushions out of the tunnel and STILL get out!!
But I bet they can't open a shut door! Just don't let them have access to the room with the cat flap in it and lock the flap once you have made sure all three cats are in the house. It's what I would do if I were in the same boat.

My cat is also about a year old and he's quite small too.

no China they cant (yet!!!!) ha ha
I can try that.. as the easiest solution... my worry is that if Harvey smells the cat has been in. He will start spraying in the kitchen by the cat flap!
but you said you had a locking catflap - how can they (and presumably all comers) get through a locked flap?
Well that's what I mean. Lock the cat flap so the other cat can't get in but shut your cats out the room that has the cat flap in at night so they definitely won't be getting out Houdini style. Job done.

And when the cats are out and about in the garden then it's every cat for themselves and yours may have to learn to run fast like mine does ;0)
Also Neutering doesn't really mean anything in relation to behaviour.

My cat was done years ago and he's still an evil little bastard.

bednobs.. if you show me a locking cat flap.. i'll show you two kittens who can open it!! they have skeleton keys!!!
from your previous posts, i think you already have bad relations with neighbours don't you? You don't want to alienate any more by demanding to know if their cat is neutered. 98% of People are in general bonkers, so don't give them a chance to be!

thanks for answers folks.. and apologies if i came across as cranky! just tired and fed up!!! happy friday 13th all!!!
then you need a new cat flap. The one i have locks and when husband left his keys in the backdoor, he tried everything to get throught the catflap to get them and couldn't and he is a 6 foot 2 bruiser
Question Author
like it bednobs! mind you - you can borrow one of my cats if you get locked out again... we can challenge them to get in!!!
Jeyes Fluid plan B. splash a few drops of jeyes fluid on a tissue in a pot with a lid, the cat won't eat it and you can move it when yo want to.
Bloody cats...............at my last house I had to replace my kitchen door which was scratched to hell by next door's 3 cats, the neighbour in question declined to contribute to the cost.
This is a touhg one.

Cats are territorial animals, and some of them go to considerable lengths to enforce their superiority over other cats in the area - your cat must have made a stand if he got into a fight - and now the ubber-moggie is coming back to make sure his earlier message has been understood.

I would try the twin tactics of advising his owners, who may like to keep him in for a bit, and also preventing your cats from getting out - the kittens may be vulnerable if they get feisty.

Hopefully ole 'top cat' will decide he has made his point and leave the other cats alone, but it is an ongoing problem because this is what cats do.

Thanks Andy-Hughes...
It has been a recurring problem in recent years - but worries me more than usual cos of my pwecious ickle kittens...
Harvey used to be a wuss.. but has been protecting the kittens and standing his ground a bit more (despite weeing himself the other day! Poor love).
I am going to call in on the neighbours and see if they can help!
Want to try to sort this out pronto as have a friend cat/house sitting in 2 weeks time and would hate her to be woken up like we were this morning! She'd sh*t herself!
Is the evil cat getting through the locked cat flap or is it just yours who escape through it? If so I would try them with a collar to see if they can get used to it, then get a magnetic operating catflap. Then they will be able to go in and out but the nasty cat shouldnt be able to. We have that kind of catflap for Tigger and it stops others getting in. Before when we had an ordinary one all the other cats would come in and eat his food.
Being a dog owner I don't have this problem but if I did I'd be tempted to terminate the offender with extreme prejudice
Buy (or borrow) a dog for the night.
