Hi

Just a thought...my dog has just acted quite odd. Just seen him jump on a seat (which he shoudnt) and was about to lie down when he jumped up and went ridgid. He then moved his head and followed around the chair, something or someone. We dont live in a haunted house but our two last dogs died here. Do you think its possible!? He often jumps up when lying down as if scared, looks at where he was then moves away. He wont go back in that spot for sometme after, but we never thought anything of it! It was just very odd, has this happened to any of you guys?

My westie sees ghosts.............he suddenly goes very still and starts looking round the room, then starts tiptoeing around whilst looking into thin air......it's quite unnerving.
Many people say that dogs can see spirits. My aunt certainly claims her dogs react in various ways which are almost certainly the spirits of her other dogs that have died. Many people claim dogs also react to the spirits of people. I have no reason to doubt it.

my little dog is a westie too!! How odd!
Yes, I think it's quite possible. What about the cat in th Care Home who knew when a person was going to die?
Yes. (My dogs aren't Westies).
Animals can sense when there is going to be a natural catastrophe, so I see no reason to doubt that they can see things which we cannot.
they ar so much more in tune than we are sophj!..................so yes they can!...........
There's a theory that they see more of lay lines where 'energy' remains - i.e. what some folk describe as spirits or ghosts. The lay line also can explain why only one person in a room of three sees a ghost, it depends on the angle that you are at to the line.

How true all of this who knows, but then there may be energy forms out there that we do not know of. Scientists should remain open in their thinking......after all, folk in the 16thC knew about St Elmo's fire but couldn't explain it....
I think it's like telepathy. It's very easy to poo-poo these phenomena but anyone who's lived with a dog has no doubt that there is telepathic communication between themselves and the dog. If you suddenly decide to take the dog for a walk the dog will suddenly wake up and know it's going for a walk without any outward signs from you. It also knows whether you intend to take it out or leave it at home. My dog always knew when I was due home and my first wife always said he was sniffing at the door and getting excited about 30 minutes before I walked in - even though I came in at all different times! My wife then knew when I would be back without me even having to ring!

I don't have to explain this to dog owners but there are plenty of people who have never had a dog who won't believe that. Dogs being aware of spirits is another of those phenomena that most dog owners come to accept but others will laugh at.
perhaps you need to change your socks more often Andyvon..........
I do change them twice a week DT !
When we moved my dog wouldn't go through an openingand was wagging her tail furiously and rearing up like a horse as if trying to get through (even as I was calling her through) as if something was blocking her. Never seen her do that before or since.Turned out there used to be a stable door there before they restructured the house. (ghost of a stable boy or horse or maybe she could see the memory of the door)
I don't know what to believe, but in your case it could always be that your dog could see something really small that you couldn't see like a spider floating about or a small fly/
Dogs can suffer from petit mal epilepsy, which would give these symptoms of rigidity, head movements followed by confused behaviour.

My cat once lifted her head and watched something go from one side of the room to another, eyes wide open as though staring. Put a chill right through me as I knew there was nothing there, no signs of flying insects, etc.
I had two cats once in a house where someone had earlier died - they sat bolt upright one day and stared out of the door behind me. I am sure they saw/sensed something.
They certainly have an understanding with humans which I think we don't fully realise yet - no wonder cats used to be called witches' familiars.
dogs are like kids and kids are more conected to the spirits bc they are more open minded so yes or he saw a mouse
