Hi there. My two year old Weimaraner GSP cross boy has being diagnosed will allergy problems. The main symptom is inflamed ears which then become dirty and sticky. We are working with the vet who is excellent but the steroid tablets which helped at first have stopped being effective at a dose which is acceptable in terms of side effects for the dog. The next stage is to try a topical steroid spray which we will start on monday. We have cleaned up his diet which has helped a lot but not solved the problem. We have also tried
Canaural drops (the thick yellow ones)
Thornit powder
We currently use ear cleaning solution made from boracic and lactic acid to clean his ears (at vets suggestion) plus the steroid tabs and evening primrose oil capsules, again at vet's suggestion.
has anyone else had experience of this and can you make any suggestions please?
He has bare, not hairy ear canals and is as good as gold about the twice daily cleaning and treatment.
thanks

neti you probably don't want to know at lunchtime. I am cleaning my cooker and fridge today. I didn't intend to but that's how it has worked out :(
Hello all
Dull grey day here .
It's an arthroscopy Neti .NBD as the resident medic would say .They just make a couple of little cuts and flush out all the grot and loose bits .I had one done and then some time later the other one .Has kept my knees going for quite a long time but they are getting crackered again especially the left one which is half the size again of the right one and very painful and crunchy .
Hell no ....is when my GP muttered about knee replacement after the last xrays I had .
Nothing doing here really .Hope you are all OK though.
See you later .
A'noon all...blooming colder than I'd dressed for, so it was a quick one shop stop for some basics. I told the doc about my sinus probs yesterday and he gave me some anti-bio's so I've bought plenty of actimels to keep the ole tum balanced.

shaney my right knee's the one that gives me hell so maybe we could tie it to your right one and we could do a three legged totter together...just so long as you veer the same way at the same time as I do. :o)

We have sunshine, the cooker and fridge are clean(er) and I have a cup of tea. Quite a lot is right with the world.
Quite a lot chillier here today aswell. There was a sea roach (foggy mist) looming over the village this am and it was chilly and damp, and I wasn't prepared for it, cos on my mountain is was sunny and warm!
Well blow me, was sitting on settee with front door open and looking out onto patio when it started to disappear, and got cold, went outside and there is the sea mist again and reaching this far now, all neighbours disappearing, quite spooky really!

We have fog starting here too even though its still sunny. its getting chilly as well. I have one more job to do which is vacuum. There is a loaf in the breadmaker and veg in the slowcooker which we will eat with steak.
Hello Everyone. Well after being at the hospital for an hour and a half I think I've had a fantastic Well woman examination. ECG, Blood test, Height weight Lungs, Blood Pressure, and questions galore. I felt quite fit when I came out. If the tests are ok I'll be having the op on Monday afternoon. It's called (nothing special )- Collumeloplasty
It was really cold when I went there but was so hot when I came out and the sun was shining and it still is. Hope it's like it in the morning as I'm on one of my longer walks round Repton where the Famous School is. It's a village up the a38 buty i go through the back lanes. There are one or 2 pubs for lunch there too. That will be my 3rd day eating out as I have been for one today as well. I'll have to cut back a bit.

Off to make a cuppa now laters 'gaters Have a good evening.
I'm sure you'll pass with flying colours Jude...and good luck with the 'plasty' - I looked it up but I'm non the wiser :o). It must have been you yourself who was hot 'cos we haven't been above 8C here today.

woofy I just remembered I asked you a Q a few pages back but you must have missed it ...<I always knew they never read the last post on a page :o)>...Those magnetic jewellery clasps, are they really secure? I've always worried that if you accidentally pull your necklace/bracelet they'd come open. I want to revamp some things.

Are you out there neti?...better dip your headlights...

ps...be time to move on soon folks...all suggs on a postcard please
P.S. Shaney What is the name of that flower in the photo you put on. I have some in my garden and have split it up hoping it will grow where I've put it. I call it elephant plant.
Robi I was so hot in that hospital you wouldn't believe. The op is to slice a bit off a deviated septum which is the bone in my nose. It block one side and as I've got older it spread a bit and I can't breathe properly that side. I didn't think my Dr. would do anyhing but he said not a problem and he sent me last November so that's how urgent it is to now :o).

Robi they are very strong magnets and I haven't had any problem with them at all, neither did my mum. I know they are only sold in dozens or so so if you want to try one, I could post you one. I have loads as I bought some myself and inherited a load from my mum. Just email me silver or gold and of course your address...goes for all the other biddies as well natch.
Bergernia Jude ..or elephants ears .
I took it from a cutting in my neighbours garden .
I'm sure you will get over your op OK .Be brave .Hot hospitals ...tell me about it
I remember being the last one waiting for Mr S at some stage and I was nearly nodding off !
Lol ...Robinia we could go in for the sack race ..
I want the same op cos I have the same, but doubt my medico would agree, I might try. I also have an 'orrible lumpy mole on my jaw and it has lost its colour but doubt they'l remove it. It itchs sometimes but not much. Vanity really

and its bedtime again...oight oight all
Bed for me too .
Hope the antibiotics do the trick Robinia and you have a better night .
Sleep toight all.
evening all, just whistling through on my way back from the Habsburg Empire, nice and sunny out east and you could see Jupiter and Venus, but ooh perishing when the wind blew down the blew Danube. I have read the last couple of pages about cameloplasties, is that treatment for widows' humps? Well, I hope anyone who's having one sails through it.

Good morning all and welcome back jno. We got fooled here, clear at home, no fog horns but a pea souper in the forest. Anyway we stayed out for 15 minutes very close to the car so not a complete waste of time.
Some of my sweatshirts have shrunk...Cotton Traders stuff is strange like this, their sweatshirts either shrink over a few washes or never do and you can't tell which ones will. If it was all of them, I would suspect it was my bum getting bigger not the shirts getting smaller but its only some of them which makes me not guilty. Anyway my mission today is to go to the local garden centre where they have an outlet and get more sweatshirts.
Good morning biddies, welcome back jno! Hope you feel better today Robi.

Seems sunny outside, hope the foggy mist stays away, it really makes things cold!

I am off to supervise the zumba class, ie just stand there again. Listen; in all the other photos I am hidden but the arms and legs which can be seen are zumba ing with the best of them!!!
Morning all
Welcome back Jno .Hope you had a nice time .
Getting out sunny here now after foggy start.
I'm just going to zumba up the garden and peg out :)
See you later.
