Allergy sticky ears in dog
Hi there. My two year old Weimaraner GSP cross boy has being diagnosed will allergy problems. The main symptom is inflamed ears which then become dirty and sticky. We are working with the vet who is excellent but the steroid tablets which helped at first have stopped being effective at a dose which is acceptable in terms of side effects for the dog. The next stage is to try a topical steroid spray which we will start on monday. We have cleaned up his diet which has helped a lot but not solved the problem. We have also tried
Canaural drops (the thick yellow ones)
Thornit powder
We currently use ear cleaning solution made from boracic and lactic acid to clean his ears (at vets suggestion) plus the steroid tabs and evening primrose oil capsules, again at vet's suggestion.
has anyone else had experience of this and can you make any suggestions please?
He has bare, not hairy ear canals and is as good as gold about the twice daily cleaning and treatment.

okay since 11 pm we have had 3 episodes of monsters in the garden, we must run up and down the stairs shouting to go out and defend the house; and one episode of big scarey buzzy fly in the bedroom, we must leave the bedroom and go and whine and shake on the landing til Mum deals with it. Mum has just dealt with the fly and administered zylkene in a chicken jelly sandwich to calm the nerves of my big brave boys. Mum is knackered. Boys are nearly asleep. Mum has a cup of tea.
To be fair in the Forest we have a particularly large and tenacious type of stable fly known locally as a crab fly. Once they get on you, they walk incredibly fast all over the body, vanishing into hair and biting. They do this buzzy whine thing so I can see why a buzzy whiney fly is so worrying. BUT in the 20 odd years that I have lived here touching wood the garden has been monster free.....I know I know, that is because the dogs and their predecessors have been so good at driving them away

Lovely sunny day (up to now) and the only monster in my garden is a bloomin cat...caught it eating dried mealworms half an hour ago, yuk! Is that normal?
I noticed the bigger mozzy type flies were waking up yesterday, I had to thwack a couple in the house.
I watched White Heat, I'm not quite sure whether I really enjoyed it or not but I didn't fall asleep. I think it might gather speed next week.

I got 8/10 . Fell down on Popes and hanging .
Lovely day here and hope you're all enjoying it .
White Heat was quite good .I'll stick with it .I tried to change my aviator Robinia to a different pic of Shaney but I got in a muddle .I'll have to look and try again .Perhaps I didn't activate it .I don't know ..lol
Nothing much doing here really .My one deed so far today was to wash the kitchen floor .That's enough exercise for one day !

Think we went there once when we were over and staying at Bashley Park (a most horrible caravan site) but it was nice for hija!
Just had lunch out, nothing spectacular but very nice. Only had one beer, not in mood for imbibing!

I remember the date of the end of hanging as that has always been a fear of mine (guess I was made to be a criminal) so glad when it ended, also hate fires and wars!
