Cats last hours.
My beloved pet cat Katie has died. She has been cremated and he ashes scattered but I'd like to know what she died of.
My neighbor found her in his garden in the afternoon. He says he saw her in the morning and she was having difficulty breathing and her stomach was big like she was pregnant (Which she was not.) and she seemed to be in some distress.
She has been fine up until then, showing no sighn of illness.
Does anyone have an idea what she may have died from?

I'm so sorry for your loss.
Maybe she has eaten something that was poisonous for her, rat poison, weedkiller (eg from an infected puddle) insecticide, slug pellets, anti-freeze or something like that?
She could also have eaten a rat or mouse or something that had been poisoned.
Sometimes they can swallow stinging things like wasps or bees.
Could ther have been any drugs or similar lying around?
Could she have been hit by a car round her stomach area?
There are some ideas here - I thought twice about posting as it's what you can do for a cat who has been poisoned but it seemed like there was nothing you could do...

Could you give the local vet a ring and see if they have an idea? Did see see a vet before or after she died as they may have more of an idea.

I am sorry to hear about Katie. I have a friend who has a cat called that - it is a lovely name.
My friend's cat had a similar problem several weeks ago. He is 14 and it transpired that he was retaining fluid due to his heart slowing down in old age.
He was given diuretics and is back to his usual annoying and vicious self. But he was very ill for about a week.
The vet said that this sort of thing usually creeps up on the animal and there would have been no way for you to know that there was a problem until very ill or, in your case, it was too late.
