When did Diaper take over from nappy in the UK?

I didn't realise it had changed and had to check where this article was from but it is a sunny sout west resort in the UK and not some soutern state in the US.

yes you have got it wrong, scroll down to the bottom of the webpage, the writer is American.
It's a story that win the Mirror rewritten for Americans to understand so Mom instead of mum/mother and diaper instead of nappy.
Never heard someone from the UK say 'diaper'
and when did we change the abbreviation of mother from mum/mam to "MOM" ?.

Good point well made. Lol

It's clearly written for US readers as said - Mom, favorite, diaper - not to mention the reminder that Torquay is in England.
Seems definitely American to me....I can't imagine that a British site would have a heading called "Gun Rights"

Looks a bit nasty to me....steer well clear Cassa !
Daft. Anyway, I'm off to to fill the kettle with the faucet before I venture out onto the boardwalk. I do like the fall....
agchristie....don't forget the rising inflection !
ag- sidewalk, surely?
BOO - I wondered who would be the first to spot that :o)
And why do they seem to only eat with a fork?
I thought boardwalk was the pier and sidewalk was the pavement?
Agchristie....was it todays deliberate error ?
Ummm even in post restaurants you seem to get 2 forks and 1 knife!
Yes Mikey o:)
Ummm...the very first time I was in America, in 1977 ( Lakers Skytrain, etc)
I was eating breakfast on the first morning, at a diner just down from my hotel in Manhattan. The waitress was hovering a bit and eventually came over and asked me if I was British. When I told that indeed I was, she replied...."I thought so !.....its the way that you eat with the knife and fork, at the same time ! "

I never realised that such a simple thing would give me away !
Mikey - definitely not spy material....now your lord and master, Mr Corbyn, well he is after that pic yesterday.
Mom is widely used in the Midlands for Mother.
I only ever eat with a fork and I'm not American.
