My gaffer was telling me today about her son who saw a guy drive in to the car park, look round, and dump something over the wall. After they did one he investigated and saw that they'd dumped a puppy. He took it home, he can't give it a permanent home as he has two dogs as it is but I have offered to give it a loving home to fill the void left by my recently departed cat. How can people be so heartless, to dump a vulnerable puppy or kitten when there are charities and pounds who will take them off your hands with the guarantee that they will not put a healthy animal to sleep?

I read the above article in a newspaper yesterday. How could anyone do that to innocent little kittens? People capable of such actions should be neutered to prevent them from breeding.

I hope that the puppy is okay and that you have a long and happy time together.
I share your anger and frustration but I'm pleased that you've got a new friend to take care of. I'm sure that he/she will quickly learn to love his/her new environment.

Have you chosen a name yet?
I was going to call my next dog/cat Hamish but my brother names his son Hamish and I didn't think that the would be too amused.

I was thinking Mrs. Doyle
Ah go on go on go on go on etc...
Spikey - since you are still up I will leave you a clip of Maru. He is cute and cuddly.

Go on, go on - you know you want to .................

Where is the clip? Was the link omitted?
I am sure (almost) that I did put the link in the box - hope it works now.

SpikeyBush, what a kind and lovely person you are for taking on the puppy, and you are right, how can people like that live with themselves? I used to live next door to an RSPCA man and you wouldn't believe the amount of dogs that were dumped in his front garden, on a busy road I might add. We used to have to take them in until he came home.
wolf63. My avatar is of my beloved Hamish that I only lost in May. He was my constant companion and I miss him more than words can say.
wolf63, I've just watched your video. If you don't mind me saying, Maru is one beautiful chubster, like my cat Stubby!

What a fantastic film Wolf. That cat has black pads....means it is / will be a good mouser.
sir alec - Hamish is a lovely name, my nephew is now 5 and is gorgeous. Maru is a famous cat and he lives in Tokyo - but he is a Scottish breed - a Scottish Fold. He is famous all over the world. His human slave edits the clips so that they are not too long and Maru is just full of fun.

Frankie was on steroids for his asthma and since then his appetite is never satisfied. He is one chubby cat, his sister is long haired so I don't know how big she is.

I probably should go to bed - the kitties are glaring at me. They won't go upstairs to bed until I do.

Spikey - Maru seems to love life very much. My two are only happy if they are trying to kill each other. They are typical siblings and I am a proud mum/slave.

Sir Alec, I had to have my cat put to sleep last month so I can appreciate the grief you are going through. It knocked me for six, just as bad as losing a close human relative. You are not alone in feeling such loss when it comes to a pet.
Thank you SpikeyBush. Love your avatar, by the way!
Both my parents are dead and I was upset both times - but when my animals have died over the years I have been inconsolable.

It is so hard not to hit people who come out with the 'just a cat' line. But I am too much of a lady.

;-)

Night folks
I agree. Pets are more than just 'animals'. You learn to love their characters and personalities, just like with people. Often, pets are far nicer than humans.
Night wolf, sweet dreams!
Good on you for giving the pup a home. I wonder what happened to the rest of the litter and the Mum. People can be so vile, can't they? SirAlec I too know the pain of losing a beloved pet. Tara died 8 years ago next month and I'm still not over it, she was the love of my life. Our pets are worth their weight in gold in my opinion.
Spikeybush...you are an angel.
Remember - we want baby pictures of your new little boy.
Please please please make enquiries as this puppy may have been stolen and dumped when it got too hot to handle. Try the local rescue kennels, dog warden, doglost (online) and check the local pet columns in papers. If all that comes to nothing then I wish you well for taking it in, but would hate to think that someone was searching for it.
http://www.doglost.co.uk/index.php The doglost website - they also have a page for 'found' dogs.
