Morning Jem, yes I always get treat nicely as most Mums do, I know Ben has bought me a fluffy owl which he has named Bubbly because he thinks Grandma is bubbly, not the tearful bubbly..LOL
Mothering Sunday is always on the 4th Sunday of Lent and is a Christian Festival. Not being a Christian I don't celebrate it, nor did my Mother when she was alive.
My only son never remembers. I probably should blame myself as when he was a boy I used to tell him not to waste his pocket money on buying these flowers and pressies at axorbitant prices and hes just followed it through. Cant really blame him even now. Fathers Day is just the same.
I used to get taken out for a meal by Hubbie with his mum but now shes in a home and canot get out, Im sure he wont bother. Anyway, I`ll be working until 4pm so maybe, just maybe he will have a nice meal ready for me for a change. LOL
But then, theres loads of ironing to do ready for Monday morning !!
I will try to relax if I get the chance
Hope everyone else has a good day
We are doing a special mothers day at work. Freshly made sarnies, a home made cake and tea or coffee for only £2 per person. Hoping to have a busy time.
The boys will get me a token gift.....as I'm not really into presents. They will do the housework and cook dinner as well...and make coffee...and fetch me wine...and do anything I say...just for the day though.
I'd never realised that Mothering Sunday was a Christian festival here in the UK....though it's origins seem to stem from ancient Rome, and the Christian church adopted it.
Mothers day doesn't have to be prezzies, flowers etc, not everyone has money to waste on such-like.
Respect Mum, do little jobs, breakfast in bed is nice, cook the lunch, wash up, make her a cuppa, just little gestures like that win me over. A phone call on the day too gives lots of pleasure. Those that don't celebrate the day I can only presume you treat your mothers all year round.
My aunt is more like a mother to me than my own mother ever was, so Im closest to my Aunt, however, there should be an 'Aunty's' day ! I always buy my Aunt some flowers and a card though....
