Pentium 4 and celeron?!?!?!?!?!?

I have a a dvd maker which converts videotapes to digital mpeg files...the thing is the system requirements are pentium 4....I got a new pc a few months ago and it is celeron...would the dvd maker...

Surround sound problems...

Just recently bought a Samsung DVD surround sound system & the sound is great...when i watch DVD's but there is no surround sound when i view normal TV. All the speakers are connected to the DVD...
