Trouble with Cursor at startup

Can anyone tell me why my cursor jumps, this happens just after I have opened my desk top up and may last for time, it also happens odd times when I'm running a program but if I leave it for 30 seconds it seems to clear, I have carried out a defragment exercise but the problem still remains.
