Just recently bought a Samsung DVD surround sound system & the sound is great...when i watch DVD's but there is no surround sound when i view normal TV. All the speakers are connected to the DVD player & it is connected to the TV via a scart lead. Is this meant to be the case..?? I bought the system primarily for good surround sound when watching football. Anyone know if i need other cables..??

I am not an expert in this area, but I think the scart cable you are using between your DVD and TV is for transferring vision and sound from your DVD to the TV, but not the other way round.

You need to check your TV bookletl to see if there is a sound OUT connector. Then you need to connect the sound OUT from your TV to a sound IN connection on your DVD (if there is one).

I recently bought an AV receiver, and this allows me to connect my Sky box sound output to the AV receiver input.

I can then hear the sound from Sky through my 6 speakers.

as mentioned, most TV's are not designed to send audio out to a surround decoder, most people would have a video/dvd recorder and that is what you hook up to the surround amp. to watch "normal" tv with surround sound, you use the video recorders audio out, and turn your tv volume down..

this is a problem if you are going to record something, and want to watch a program in surround, but thats the way it is..
