How do you interpret this saying? I think its meant to mean someone is a liar, but it actually comes out as though they can't lie very well.

Held key down for too long

Something has just made a beep noise

twice in about five minutes - does a smoke alarm beep when the battery is running down? Its only just one short beep - not the continuous beep beep beep it does when I'm coooking(!)...
