A friend is going to a gig in Hyde Park, travelling by car from Norfolk. Any suggestions as to a hotel or similar where he could park and travel in by tube, or other ideas - possibly from the Kingston on Thames area (I know thats the other direction but he has relatives there!).

Looking at prices for train into London it would cost about £42 for two people return to Heathrow, so would it be better to get a taxi?
from Heathrow you can get the tube; about £5 each way
terminal at heathrow has tube station. Most heathrow hotels have shuttle buses to terminal.
"so would it be better to get a taxi?"

God no! do you have any idea what taxi prices are in London! that £42 pounds might get you about 5 miles!
taxi quotes for heathrow to hammersmith were at £45 one way when i looked lol
If he stays in Kingston he`s restricted to using the overland train to Waterloo and having to go from there. He could try the Jurys Inn at Hatton Cross (Heathrow) they do parking for a small charge and the tube (Picadilly line) is 5 minutes` walk away.
Just fyi - Kingston is only 30 mins from Waterloo.
I know, but if you come back late at night and have to wait half an hour for the next Kingston train, it`s a pain. I hate waiting around at Waterloo at night. For hatton X he could just jump on the tube.
Budget for the hotel as you can go right through the price spectrum?
catch the train from heathrow into Paddington is one option.....
I think that`s about £30 though (if you mean the heathrow express)
good grief - thats pricing to the taxis.....
Yes. They`re not stupid are they? :-)

Thanks all, looking at a Heathrow hotel for parking with a shuttle bus to the airport to get the tube into Hyde Park. He's very impressed with you lot - didn't expect real answers and so soon!
Heathrow Express is £16.50 one way if you book it online, more if you don't.

Only gets you to Paddington, though, which doesn't sound like the place you want to be.

Heathrow Connect is cheaper and slightly slower; it stops on the way, but again not anywhere you want to be

Tube's best, really.
hi lankeela. Ive booked Jurys inn which is a couple of minutes walk from the tube (saves getting bus to airport for tube) reasonable price too.
