iTunes - Tracks stopping early

I have recently upgraded my PC and now on Windows 7, upon reinstalling iTunes and transferring across all my tracks any tracks that were previously downloaded through iTunes now stop 30 seconds before...

Is it possible to transfer itunes library to external hard drive?....want to free up space on this hard drive..lots of music and photos.which I want to move too !! I have tried taking tunes off...
