Is it possible to transfer itunes library to external hard drive?....want to free up space on this hard drive..lots of music and photos.which I want to move too !! I have tried taking tunes off library to MS media in the past but they did not want to go..appeared as empty files ..or am I doing something wrong somewhere..??

I managed to do this as I was also needing to free up space on hard drive. I found that once I'd transferred the music from the hard drive to the external drive I then had to delete everything out of iTunes then transfer everything from the external drive to iTunes as it was obviously trying to find the tracks from their previous location. Not sure if there's an easier way than that or not

Yes, it's possible. You may refer to this step by step guide, it will teach you how to transfer iTunes library to another computer, it's easy to understand and works pretty well for me. It's safe and it will not delete your iTunes music and video.
