Bmw ~Fumes?

I have a BMW 2006 year (series 6) and after a while driving I can smell fumes inside, giving me a headache. Reluctant to drive too far now due to this. Any ideas why?...

My car tax is due at the end of the month and I arranged Direct Debit at renewal last year, will it automatically carry on being paid for from new renewal? Car passed MOT.
