Does your pet have a favourite toy? Or more to the point a toy they play with to the exclusion of all others?

I've just been to my Mums and her cat has the same 'fish on a stick' thingy (called Feeeeesh) that she's had since she was a kitten and is completely disinterested in anything else that's ever been brought for her - she's 9 now and her toy's looking so bedraggled I'm not sure how much longer it'll last!!
My dog had a favourite toy but would still at least play with other things!!

Is this normal and are there any ways to get the cat to 'like' other toys?

My cat shows very little interest in anything that has actually been bought for him. I've only had him about 7 months but he's got lots of bought toys (catnip filled mice of varying sizes; jingly things; feathery things - you name it). What he almost always plays with though is screwed up pieces of paper - he loves them. I throw them in the air and he leaps up and catches them between his paws or sometimes actually hits them back to me like he's playing tennis. The one other thing he likes is also something I made - its a little round plastic container which I put a few grains of rice in - it rattles and he chases it round the entire house usually ending up losing it under a piece of furniture!
and he also likes chasing a plain ordinary piece of string

My cats have so many toys, I cannot keep count.
Two of them absolutely loved the goldfish on a string, when they were little.
One little one loved a toucan, but ripped him (and his successor) to bits so fast, I did not buy a third one.

Last christmas my sister-in-law sent a pack of three catnip mice.
Our older one, took one, ripped his eye out and left him for dead.
The little one took the green one, and to this day has not stopped playing with it.
Occasionally I put all toys that I can find away, and it is more often than not, the green one first that he gets back out.
Once I even found him in the dish washer.

I have not idea why, but he absolutely loves that green mouse.

mine has lots of toys but her fave is an old mobile handsfree cord which has a hairband wrapped aroung the end of it, she drag's it around the house with her and brings it to me when she wants to play
Apart from her bones the only thing my dog will play with is the plastic washing balls that go in the washing machine, she'll chew them up then wait for another, good job i've got a cupboard full!!!
lol. annavc my cat is exactly the same. Will not touch anything that is supposed top be a toy for cats but tie an old crisp packet in a knot and it becomes her favourite thing in the whole world.
Pat likes a rabbit or mouse. Not quite dead.

One of my cats loves those bits of plastic that you get when you buy wires (they hold the wire together).

My cat rio has the best toy. We had one of those roller blinds that are made up of lots of sticks of wood. It broke and rio plays with the sticks. She carries them round in her mouth and when you throw one she runs after it and brings it back to you! Its really funny

Thank you all for your answers; So its confirmed then: Cats are nuts !?! (and dogs electricblue)

Im just glad to know that shes not the only fussy one out there!!
Every Christmas we buy her one of those stocking things with toys and treats in and every year it gets ignored!!

Still trying to find a duplicate Fish on a stick though!!

PS Purple hair - does your cat think its a dog??
