I am a sufferer sam, but ok at the moment, have you ever tried rubbing vaseline inside your nostrils, it catches the pollen, i know it dosen't sound to glamorous but it does the job

Hi Sam (we always seem to be on the same postings!) I too am a sufferer of Hayfever, mine started early March so I've been on the anti-histamines for ages. I don't take the 'over the counter' ones anymore though, they just aren't strong enough! I went to my doc and got prescription for really strong ones! They work a lot better but still don't totally get rid of it though! I tend to wake up really early in the morning, sneezing, runny nose etc which is soooo irritating! Having just started a new job in London though (coming from the country) it doesn't seem to be as bad!! I would recommend getting a stronger anti-histamine though from your doc - you can get a good 3 months worth in one prescription so it's not expensive! Also, they can give you eye drops which I find really helpful - the ones I get are fluorescent yellow and make your eyes itch like crazy for a minute when you put them in but after that they are fab! Just don't cry cos they make your tears yellow too! YOu have my sympathy love, it's so horrible having hayfever - like having a year round cold!!!
Wow I just saw how long my post is - Sorry for going on a bit Sam!
i suffered really badly with hayfever as a young child and late teens, it was terrible my eyes itched so much it sometimes looked like i had black eyes through fightint they were so swollen and i could.nt even go out for ten minuites before the sneezing started, i was on anthistines too but they did'nt help that much, i rew out of it in my late twenties and touch wood has'nt bothered me since. so i sympathize with you. hope the anti h works for you.
my husband suffers really bad, about four years ago when we were on holiday he had a bad few weeks of hayfever,he now cant smell or taste hes been to the doctors they say it may come back there again he maybe like this for ever, hes thinking of having an op on his nose to see if that helps
If its really bad ask your GP about the injection for hayfever. The only downside is that they only advise it for severe cases.

i am crying at the mo cos its that bad my eys are stinging like mad

Sam, a reminded if you do go for stronger hayfever tablets, take advise from the phamarcist or your work especially if machinery is involved ie could make you drowsy

I'm the same as cliffsdoll, used to suffer really badly, hardly at all now thank god. My mum's gone the other way though. She never had any problems til a few years back, now she gets mild symptoms.

Hayfever and allergic rhinitis are MISERABLE - for alternatives to antihistamines try Bee Pollen and Honey made locally to where you live. I have noticed too that when wearing contact lenses it doesn't seem to be too bad??!!

Hi each, as a fellow Hayfever sufferer I sympathise with you all and I will give you a few tips of how to control your symptoms. What you need to remember is everytime you go out then come in again pollen has deposited itself on you especially your hair, a good tip would be before you go to sleep at night damp your hair rub it with a towel and you wont spend the night breathing in pollen then being bunged up in the morning. if you have an attack in the day, also consider doing this. I have also found the New Era tissue salt called 'Catarrh and Sinus disorders very helpful you can get them from any health shop. If you have an unexpected attack, I find Benadryl especially good for instant relief. Hope this advice helps.

I never got it at all but my sister did - until I was 15 when one spring/summer I got it and she stopped. Now I get it pretty badly, with June being the worst month for me by far. I can handle a runny nose, but I HATE having itchy eyes! I take some prescribed tablets and eye drops - but I don't know if it really helps, as I still suffer badly. Went back to the doctors last year and he said there was nothing more to try, and was told the injections are only really offered to those who need it because of their job - like people who are always driving. Looks like I'll be stuck indoors for the whole of June as per usual!
