I've been on them before as well - no probs. I had a period of being really down and the doc just doubled the dosage to 2 a day. I really wanted to be off them by now but if I go back to 1 a day the depression comes back so I'm obviously not ready. Hope you're having a good day.
Take care of yourself - Elaine x
Hi km
I was on it for 18 months - the only side affect I had was excessive sweating, which apparently can happen and is a known side-affect. (nice huh?!)
I found they took away the highs and the lows of my depression and levelled me out at a middle level that was livable.
However, I've been off them now for 3 years and so far so good! And when I stopped taking them I felt better than I had for years - but there were many factors behind that than just the pills!
I wish you all the best!
kissable-moib i was prescribed them some years ago having had similar prescription drugs before for anxiety/depression. i took them for about 9 days and begged my doctor to take me off them as i felt more anxious etc than i had before. i took and have taken on and off since, paroxetine (seroxat) and these suit me better. Even so, for the first 2 weeks of taking these I also felt more anxious, couldn't eat etc.
have you been prescribed them for depression or anxiety or panic attax or is it for someone else? :) x
Took fluoxetine for two years, and found it to be very useful. Initial side effects I found were nausea, anxiety, muscle aches and migraines. They gradually lessened over an 8 week period.
When reducing dose/stopping I found my side effects to be lethargy, migraines and dizziness. Im now 8 weeks approx after stopping, and no side effects. I feel great and think fluoxetine was definately the right treatment for me. It balanced me out mentally so I was a able to respond much better to counselling.
