in the middle of buying and selling a house. We have today received our sellers information form thingy. Bear in mind our sellers are moving abroad, they have said they will leave the curtain rails and poles for £200, they will leave the (secondhand!) cooker for £500 and they will leave the (unspecified amount) logpile for £150. Oh, and if we have any money left over, they are willing to leave the rotary washing line for £50!!!!

agree with naomi...they wont wont to take them...They are trying it on. When's your move naomi?
ps. Don't use solicitors to negotiate - they'll charge you for every phone call or letter. Use the agent. He won't charge extra.
Haven't got a date yet, Mazie. Our buyers keep sending us questions - really daft questions like would we confirm we're leaving the wheelie bins - and I got a whole list of questions from them through my own solicitor today. Some people! Patience!!

How about you? Have you decided?
We have had an offer but not happy with it... so the ball's in their court at the moment. There's no rush for us so we might just sit tight for a bit. We put offers over and they offered £15K less. Don't like this house selling Malarky much
If you're not in a rush, why not sit tight? Houses seem to be selling very quickly at the moment.
I think that's what we've decided naomi. Good luck with your buyers :o)
Having moved back and forth across Continents I can assure you they will not want nor need the hassle of trying to sell white goods and are well and truly trying it on. Second hand white goods go for next to nothing and the log pile? do me a favour lol! If you want the stuff left then I would offer £250 for the lot,no negotiation and if that's not acceptable an adage to the contract that they must either remove these items at their own expense before completion, or leave them for you to dispose of at your discretion. The person who sent you the sellers info should be the one to negotiate and I presume this is the Conveyancer /Solicitor.
Thanks Mazie. Our purchase is all ready to go .... just waiting for these people to sort themselves out so that we can all decide on a moving date.
Offer them what you think the fittings are worth - and get a quantity for the logs left. I've just moved back from abroad and sold lots of things at real 'knock-down' prices just to save me the trouble of disposing or transporting them. E.g. Cooker 25 euros, 2 settees 75 euros, washing machine 30 euros.... etc.. Cross-channel removals come expensive and they have a time constraint.

In other words, don't offer them a lot. Don't know what sort of cooker it is, is it worth your while to offer £100? Only you know the answer. Bonne chance!

Our negotiations have taken place through the agent who introduced our buyers .... all part of an estate agent's service these days - and unlike solicitors, at no extra cost.

i think it's probably partly down to the fact that this wast the house that went to final offers, and they accepted one that was 10k more than ours. Then their buyer pulled out, so they asked us if our offer was still on the table. I think they are trying to make up the difference. Their stuff is nice, and fairly new but as our offer was over the asking price in the first place i feel miserable about it!
Bednobs, you don't HAVE to buy it. You're under no obligation whatsoever to buy it. If it's making you miserable tell them you don't want any of it.
Tell them where they can stick their poles bednobs !

I wouldn't mind betting that if you call their bluff, they will leave them anyway, as its too much of a faff to remove them...how exactly do you remove a pile of logs easily ?
One off offer depending on the model and condition/age of the cooker.

logs zero, curtain rails zero,

Anything else that you want - do it direct with the seller if you can as the lawyer will charge, then get it written into an e-mail between you, something that clarifies the purchase items on the list.
