Depends how complicated your estate is and how much help you need. If its really simple (like you just want to leave money to your kids or spouse) you can buy a cheap pack at W H Smith (less than 20?). If youre not sure how best to structure your estate or you think you might be missing something, go and see a solicitor. A typical basic Will costs around 100 and I think its a good investment. Dying intestate is time consuming for your family and may get messy.
I used to be managing director of a will-writing company and I've answered this question previously on AB:

Having just moved house my wife and myself decided that it was time to update our wills. She wanted to make hers more complex than mine and in the end we decided to use our solicitor. Personally I would rather have used the WH Smith method because in my opinion our wills needed to be only simple affairs i.e. me to her and her to me and if we died within 30 days of each other then our estate was to be divided equally between or named children. Actually this is exactly what we ended up doing.

The only advantage of a solicitor was the free storage of the wills for the next 6 years. In other words had they been in the house wills can get lost when the time comes - Nuff said.
