I'm a genius. I knew it would be the slave labour party before I clicked on the link.
They still dont get it, do they ...i see her 20/20 vision in hindsight is perfect though !
^^ Same here, as soon as I saw expenses scandal I just knew it would have something to do with the Labour party.
Do they never learn or have any humility, a hand in the till is worth two in the pocket
Mr Johnson said last night that the wreath had been 'mistakenly added' to his expenses claim.

It was a mistake though, Gromit !.

Grants Shapps in trouble !
Mistakes do happen. I used to have to deal with loads of expenses and I'd often get a random receipt. I would give the receipts back with the reasons why they weren't being paid....so who was doing her book-keeping?

Unlike Sarah Champion, LABOUR MP for Rotherham, at least he wasn't caught with his hand in the till!
No comment on the LABOUR MP then Mickey?

The problem is, they all have their fingers in the till or snouts in the trough, not sure how we stop it.

I think the problem with this woman though is the morality with it being a remembrance day wreath rather than the amount.
I hate to say Boris was right about anything, but he was right to claim it as a work expense and so was this woman. It's not a scandal at all, for either of them.

She doesn't agree with you...

// She admitted the claim "should never have been made" and would reimburse IPSA on Monday. //

For me, it depends whether they were laying the wreaths on behalf of anybody else. If they were supposed to be personal tributes from themselves, then I can't see how it's a justifiable expenses claim.
So , is it only Labour Mp's that's been caught with their fingers in the till ?

Ah, the old left wing refrain. It was in the rule-book, so I did it.
Most normal people, and I like to think I can speak for most normal people, don't flipping care. Either put your flipping hand in your own flipping pocket or don't make the flipping gesture at all.
jno - //I hate to say Boris was right about anything, but he was right to claim it as a work expense and so was this woman. It's not a scandal at all, for either of them. //

I can see your point in terms of the letter of the law, but in terms of personal morality, the argument does not fly.

The only way a receipt is sent in for an expenses claim is if the recipient puts it there. Why not say to yourself, I am not going to claim for this wreath because it is a personal gesture, so I'll throw away the receipt, as I am not going to need it.

Either that, or get your office to order the wreath as an office expense, if you are happy with the morality of that point - they may be, I would not personally.

When I go and see bands, some venues have a charity box and 'guest list' attendees are asked to put a donation in, since they have had their ticket for free. I drop money in, and never think about it.

If I claimed my donation from the magazine with my expenses, and that became public knowledge, then I would rightly be pilloried, because I had made the conscious decision to claim back an expense which I undertake to carry, because it is the right thing to do.

No, the liblabcon have all proved to be equally venal(that's why people keep voting for them??) It's just that this particular trougher happens to be Labour. I expect if she was a conservative someone might have mentioned it. Or if it was a Kipper, 5-10 people would 'bang on' about it, daily, for the next 3 years.
