Don't forget the solar eclipse that will be visible if you live in the North of England. It's on Friday 20th March starting at approx 8 am and will be about 90% of totality. Have you seen one before?

Yes, I've seen one before, about 12 years ago maybe ? Not quite sure. We watched it from the office window with a piece of paper with a pin hole in it, very basic, but it worked !
cant forget the last one in 1999. It happened on my dads 70th (and last) birthday. It was quiet eerie.
Never seen a full one though I can remember two,one in '61 and another in I think '66 both off which covered about 80% of the sun.During the one in '61 I was still at school and we used the paper and pin hole method which worked surprisingly well.In '66 I was working on the pit top and the store keeper lent out all the spare welding glasses so we could all see it.With the one in '99 I remember it was very cloudy so we couldn't actually see the sun but as nailit it was still quiet eerie.
Lots of videos on You Tube of the 1999 eclipse which was the most dramatic one I remember - even here in the Midlands it got very eerie and dark, the strange thing was the birds stopped singing and totally disappeared into the trees and shrubs and everything went silent ......
