Is is best to hire a car from one of the larger companies like Enterprise or (in my region) Salford Car Hire, or should I find a smaller garage? Can anyone recommend one in the Manchester area? It's for a smallish car for a few days only.

I always go to a small local Car Hire Firm. Everything is included in the price they quote and there is no deposit to pay. You 'phone some and they will quote you a figure which sounds reasonable. You then find there is a �300.00 deposit and Collision Damage Waver.
