Does any else share my grievance that the recently introduced I Spy entry to the General Knowledge Prize Crossword is basically unfair? It would be quite feasible for someone to text in the correct number of 'Is' appearing in the completed grid, whilst having some of the answers completely wrong or mis-spelled, negating the efforts of those who struggle to find the correct answers.
Also for postal entries, is it the correct crossword or the I Spy answer which counts? Strikes me the MoS hasn't really thought through its new (allegedly) fantastic puzzles pages! Maybe someone from the paper will read this and explain!
Perhaps because it's because they make some income from the texts whereas it took up a lot of wasted resources and required lots of paper to be shredded when they received tens of thousands of entries each week.
And I wonder if it is worth sending it in any more - are they going to bother with the postal entries at all if it is so much easier to read a text or accept an automated phone call? But I begrudge paying them to accept my entry, as you do with texts and phone calls. Shame, especially as I have just cancelled my Saga subscription after a second month of their new 5 min prize crossword (it used to take me all month, even with the help of this site, but there was satisfaction in finishing it)
Do as I do. I stopped sending in entries 3 years ago instead saving the postage from 2 competitions a week. After 24 months I had saved an amazing £150. Even more now that the postage has gone up so much.
good luck everyone.
I fail to see why anyone who has access to Google would struggle to find the correct answers it usually takes longer to type in the question than it does for the answer to appear!
