I find it strange that Adrian Chiles Is universally slated but still seems to have no shortage of lucrative offers, he joins a list of serial offenders who somehow manage to get a nice little earner from commenting on football but who are generally criticised for their crassness!

Those that come to mind are :-

Robbie Savage
Clark Carlisle
Andy Townsend
Garth Crooks
Owen Hargreaves
David James
Steve McManaman

... there are others!

I don't believe I have ever seen Mr Childs on TV (I do not watch sport), but to be sacked partway through his contract, and to have ITV and his agent keep schtum is genuinely odd.

I too suspect a great big scandal on the way.

Probably not something illegal, but something pretty bad.

Or...it could be...umm...

Nope - nothing else makes sense.
A bit like voting Tory: no one who really likes him (apart from me) is prepared to say so in public :-) )
It's rather unfair to lump him in with a few abysmal TV pundits. He's an anchorman :-)
Let's face it he was bloody awful.
AOG - "But andy-hughes

/// His lugubrious face, like a twelve-year-old who has had his sweet allowance stopped, ///

Didn't know one had to be a George Clooney lookalike to talk about football?"

One doesn't. It's nothing to do with his features, which like all of us, he was born with - it's that screwed-up petulant look he stiches on whenever a camera points at him, and that is down to him and him alone.

/// and his gormless Brummie voice made him a disaster for breakfast, or indeed any television. ///

Oh an attack on regional accents now, in a week when this subject has been up for discussion, it seems that teachers have been told to drop their regional accents, because they are deemed inappropriate for education.

"/// and his gormless Brummie voice made him a disaster for breakfast, or indeed any television. ///

Oh an attack on regional accents now ..."

No, an attack on Chiles' boring monotone voice, which says nothing of wit or interest whatever.

Frank Skinner is far more 'Brummie' than Chiles, but he is blessed with a fierce intelligence and a rapier wit, so his accent is not at all bothersome.

I always loved Roy Keanes' expression when doing the punditry for ITV when talked to by Chiles... Keano may well have being a mind reader.
I don't mind Chiles, very knowledgeable about the game with a sense of humour

In Pougatch ITV have gone for a bland but safe option (a la Steve Rider)
