great isn't it. everyone has an opinion '' I don't believe the report'', maybe the two policemen assassinated in their car was a figment of the imagination . ?
"armed civilian on streets" is quite a common thing in the US, so that doesn't make it un-tragic. In this case though I'd say that I support the police's decision, at least based on what I've heard so far.

His mother says he never had a gun.
the mum was at the petrol station ?
Nobody's commented on what his mother said:
>>His girlfriend told me the police was messing with him. He was trying to get up and run and they started shooting.
Sorry Talbot, I see you did. I was busy killing a fly.
Get ready for the Xmas fireworks to start!!!!!!
If it comes out that the police were lying and he didn't have a gun, then... something is seriously wrong in the US and it needs fixing PDQ. But if he did, and he pointed it at the police, then fine and sadly that's the problem with allowing guns to proliferate so openly. We will have to wait and see, but I'd be surprised if the police were downright lying.
"His mother says he never had a gun."

glad thats sorted out then.....for one minute i was starting to think the police had opened fire on yet another totally innocent unarmed black person....

"he never had a gun, in fact he was miles away at the time "...errr hold on

///Detectives said they recovered the dead man's weapon at the scene.///

///Detectives said they recovered the dead man's weapon at the scene.///

Now we all know that the police carry around spare guns and then when they feel like killing a black person they bring it out and press their victims fingers around it so has to gather their fingerprints.
I don't think that anyone has said that seriously, and if they have then they're being stupid. But the idea that there is not a problem in the US of how its police operate is equally ludicrous.

AOG, Ah, ok, thanks for that, and there was me thinking the Police were the Good Guys!
We only have the police's word for it at the moment. Let's just hope they have CCTV and it can be proved that the police officer was acting in self defence.

My thoughts at the moment is that the report of the incident could well be to try and stop anymore riots.

I hope that isn't the case.

AOG....No shootings are acceptable to me whether it be police or civilians.

Oh yeah....that confirms it. NOT!

The video stops at a very convenient time!

Is it just possible that petty criminals in the U.S. will go out armed because they know they will be targeted by armed police.
Maybe he should look at retiring now because it seems his judgement might have been flawed.

Like Ummmm said, you would of thought that the 'criminal' would have at least discharged his weapon unless as douglas9401 has mentioned, it was either unloaded, fake or had a feed issue. Either way if that was the case you would of assumed the kid would of dropped the firearm and give himself up. It seems like the officer just panicked and discharged his firearm several time irresponsibly.
---------------------
So you've seen absolutely no footage of this incident whatsoever yet with your extremely limited knowledge of firearms have condemned the officer already?
Please don't ever do jury service.
I know as much as you do about this incident but for now I'll go with the Mayor's summary:

P.S. At the risk of appearing a pedant it's have, not of.
