hello all

Any ideas where a single father can take his son on holiday for a week either in July or Aug?

Clacton-on-Sea or Southend!
the mumbles - lots of selc catering and choice of sand, country and town with a 5 mile cycle/foortath along swansea bay - M4 all the way

An adventure holiday preferably somewhere warm

butlins lots to do allday and great entertainment at night, food good to lots of choice and help yourself as much and as many times you like.
Menorca
Scarborough, its got great surrounding areas too, ie Whitby, Filey and Bridlington. We love it How old is your son?
I'd go with don1982 and go to the Mumbles. We took our children there regularly when they were small and they loved it. There are fantastic beaches on the Gower and in Mumbles there are Parks, crazy golf, ice cream parlours and the pier with amusements. Just down the road (on the way to Swansea) is Blackpill Lido - a great spot for a day and just across the road is Clyne Gardens for your son to run off some energy and you to admire the gardens. And if you go just past Swansea to Port Talbot there is the Afan Lido swimming pool with slides and waves and slides to go down on rubber rings.

essex bloke, Why not try Haven holidays - they do cheaper hols for single parents and there will be lots for you and your son to do. There's a few camps all over the UK. Good luck - hope you find somewhere nice and both have a great holiday. It 'aint easy being a single parent - been there, done that, many years ago now though.

Try Centrepacs in the Midlands. Close to Robin Hood land.
You could try Potters at Hopton-on-Sea. It is an all-weather holiday venue, incorporating a hotel and chalets. It is right on the beach. Expensive, but all meals (including lunch!) are in the price, as is all entertainment and a kids club. The food is generally of a very high standard. Kids can eat from their special menu or from the adult menu.
