Awww, he wanted to share a hairball with you!
No, not a good thing, I hope the cat and knitting are ok.
Question Author
a) cat oblivious to any problems, currently looking for his dinner
b) hairball evident :-(
c) part-finished knitting in the wash
d) knitting bag beyond recovery, the sick got in all the folds and creases :-(
Oh dear, can smell it from here!
Question Author
Bunky, that is one good thing (without putting you off your dinner), furballsick isn't smelly......
Why did he / she pick on your knitting bag, boxy ?.
And if you don't find 'it' until later (under the bed used to be a favourite barfing zone) it dries up and you can't really be sure which end of the cat it came from.

Tony - does a cat need a reason?
Mmmmm, no not really, wolf.
Question Author
Rover honks where he wakes up, tony - sometimes he leans off the sofa, this time he turned his head the wrong way, bleah........ It doesn't help that he moults and grooms a lot, so there's a furball somewhere or other nearly every day.

There was just a hell of a racket downstairs, I went down to find No. 1 Son in the litter tray trying to have a poo, with Rover leering at him from the sidelines. At least he stayed in the tray until he'd finished.

It's like a public loo in our house at the moment, don't come here unless you are a cat person, all we need is Black Spot to come in with a can of White Lightning :-(

oh no....hope cat is feeling better after that lol you wil need to chuck bag in washer and do the wool wash ;-)
LOL, I get the picture, boxy. Is Rover a long haired cat ?.
Question Author
No, he's not, but he's got a lot of underfur and it's soft. Unlike No. 1 Son who is short and oily, LOL. Black Spot's the longhair and he hardly moults at all!
Right, just wondered, boxy due to the daily hairball barfing.
Question Author
We think it's to do with his condition, he's on medication for chronic kidney disease which is well controlled, but gives a tendency to a weak stomach in the barf department. He's keeping food down so it's not the CKD taking over. It's all furry sausages, bleah.
Frankie, as you can see from his picture, is short haired. If he sick it is because he was speed eating his food.

Princess Stupid is long haired. She isn't too bad when it comes to barfing hair balls but her winter coat is growing in and she is going to start grooming as a full-time job to keep her looking pretty.

I filled two cardboard boxes with old towels etc and put them out in my little office so they can snooze away. They have spent most of today fighting over possession of one box - the other lying empty.

Delightful siblings!
Ah, medication then, boxy.

Best of luck, wolf !.
Boxy - did you watch the three Horizon cat programmes. I enjoyed them but an hour of TV is way too long for me to concentrate. Luckily I don't have a TV so I watched it on catch-up.
Question Author
I did, wolf, I enjoyed them. I don't think they taught me anything I didn't already know, after millions of years of cat-herding, but some of the things were obviously a surprise to the owner. I felt sorry for that cat in Brighton who was scared in her own back garden because it was other cats' territory.
The woman who had a cat who was scared because a neighbours cat was coming into the house. The invaders family were certain that their cat would never do such a thing as he was on a special diet! They are devious little fur balls.

I was concerned that the farm cats had not all been neutered (de-nutted). They breed like rabbits - so said my old vet.
