Get a few prices. Try to get recommendations. Dont go for the first price they give you - they will come down possibly to a third of the original price but it might take a few days. Say you dont have time to waste, you want their rock bottom price. If you are a lone female, get a big burly male friend to be there when the rep comes and say he is your partner. Very sexist but it works. No intimidation that way. Dont let them sit down for five hours in your front room. NEVER sign anything the same day unless you are 200% sure about the price. They will phone their manager before the price comes down. When they leave they will phone you from the car or in the morning. (Part two follows)
Part two. If they give you a price you are happy with, tell them you will think about it for a few days. Show them the door. Get them to do a drawing or spec of all the work they are going to do to make it absolutely clear before they start. I cant stress enough, try to get recommended and don't sign anything until you are completely happy with the price and the work they are doing. Have a good gut feeling about the rep. Check them out as much as you can. NEVER give them all the money before they start. They will want 50% so offer them 25% and the rest when they are finished and you are 200% happy. Part Three follows.
Part Three. There is not a lot of work about at the moment so you know they need the work and will lower the price. Beware of conmen. Good luck. If you live in Surrey I could recommend someone.
Do you mind telling us where in the country you are based?Do you want to have replacements? Or have you got period sash windows but want to be double glazed?

Try KIWI windows, they are in Henley Road, Coventry. I've had windows, doors and now a conservatory, and have nothing but praise for the company. Quality & price were very competative, and their after sales service is first class. I've no connection with the company!!!
Wish I lived in Coventry and needed double glazing - the first people I would go to would be U Fit - oh to meet those Armstrongs ! Can't wait for tonights' episode (how sad am I?)
