Something to think about Rich ....... DG companies will do a perfectly good job, but at a price!
Made to measure uPVC windows and doors are readily available to all these days..... for diy fitting.
Any decent builder/handyman can do the job. Try and think of anyone you could ask who might fit them for you. Could be quite a saving.
I paid about £3K five years ago for three bay windows on my tall terrace house, two flat windows at the back, and a custom-made back door with a cat-flap. That was supply and fit.
Use market competitive forces to drive the price.
Tell each of three companies what your requirements are, make it clear to each that you are proposing to ask three to quote and see what happens.
Just paid £5k for 10 windows, 1 large patio door/window and a front door with 2 side panels. All UPVC. Very pleased with the result, house is so much warmer.
never bought them, about to buy them as well as fix/renovate existing broken windows to save having the fully replace all of them..I hear a huge cost is when companies just buy the windows from the factories that make them so try to cut out the middle man by finding a local firm who actually make the windows on their site, some do and you should get a better price, of course the quality needs to be checked and the paperwork saying they are registered fitters and all that the windows pass all safety checks etc
I am with "The Builder" on this one and if you cant get the windows/doors the size you want you can get a good idea of the costs alone without labour on what you need. Then take it from there, I warn you now the mark up is horrendous when you get a quote in from the big companies.
We just paid £1200 for a large bay window and £600 per window for the smaller windows. That's in Berkshire.
