They missed Close Encounters. Must be up there!
Wizard of Oz - surely we could all act all the characters since it is shown every Christmas.
No I don't agree...where's Shawshank?!
It's not about the best it's about the most re-watched, entirely different. So why no Bond movies, they are on all the time.
Robinia - I agree Shawshank was brilliant.

You cannot agree or disagree with the list! It is not a list of the top ten best ever films, is it, merely the result of a random survey. You may rewatch a certain film over and over again and it may or may not be on the list. The film i never tire of watching is The Last Of The Mohicans, for the stirring background music as much as anything.

Green mile ?
just mentioned 'Shawshank' to my mate. Sort of film you can watch repeatedly.
While not a film aficionado, I had read and re-read endlessly, James Fenimore Cooper's The Last of the Mohicans[i as a child and so would agree wholeheartedly with Ken4155... It was my first exposure to the talents of Daniel Day-Lewis and was one of the most exhausting movies I've ever watched, from the opening elk hunt chase to the ending rescue attempt of the women.

The soaring cliff and rocky krag scenes, especially at the end, were, I expected, to be filmedin upsate New York since that was the setting of most of Cooper's novels... but behold and low they were filmed in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, a southern State!

Have to mention how Wes Studi really stole the show though... seen first, briefly, in Dances with Wolves, his characterization of [i]Magua] in Mohicans was just outstanding ..
I tried to watch Shawshank once because I heard so many good things, but gave up.

Not for me.
Only film I rewatch is M.A.S.H gets better every time see it.
It is true that my list of best films ever and the list of films I'd watch over and over again are probably rather different. In many respects Jaws is a brilliant film but I'm not sure I'll ever watch it again. I just don't do scary movies. On the other hand I really enjoy watching superhero movies such as Spider-Man 2, which is really fun, but I know it's not a brilliant movie per se. But it is very entertaining. There's some overlap probably -- again let me cite WALL-E, although not everyone would agree -- but not that much.
you're weird, hopkirk. lol.
Forrest Gump is very rewatchable, All on the list are good to rewatch apart from 4 and I've never seen Titanic. Not a Di Caprio fan but liked Blood Diamond!
Hmmm...some strange omissions.

Shawshank Redemption
The Sound of Music
The Wizard of Oz
The Godfather I and II
Oh...and 'Grease'!

Any film which features 30-somethings pretending to be teenagers is all right in my book.
Love Gone with the Wind. Whenever it is on I will sit and watch some of it. It is rather long so I tend to watch it in installment. Most of those on the list I wouldn't bother watching again.
Not in my house, not sure I would watch any of them again.
