Spain in mid-August? Hot and humid, of course!
The average minimum night-time temperature, for the whole of August, is 21C. The average maximum daytime temperature is 29C. If your accommodation hasn't got air-conditioning, you're in for some very hot, sticky nights (although you might get a bit of a sea breeze to make evening strolls along the front quite pleasant). The days are likely to be very hot (with the temperature rising to, say, 33C, on several days). To cool off, head inland towards the mountains.

There are some nice places to eat around the west end of the bay at Javea particularly pleasant for an evening meal with the sea view.
