10CS I can read your contributions without grizzling.

I think you have to accept mods will always be with us, like you know the Russian separatists in Ukraine, measles, indigent poor and so on

Douglas Bader, Peter !. Hope he had someone to walk his dog for him.

Well, now you see why I'm not a Mod - I am obviously hysterical and cannot hold a reasoned argument in a bucket unlike some.
On the subject of Guy Gibson's dog, I agree the name should stay at it was.
.

10CA as intellect - do you have any views as to why the forbidden list changes ? that is why some words cease to be taboo and some become taboo ?
Yeah Guy Gibson's oops

Hi Clarry

no my dad ( Dunkirk I'm afraid ) was for a short time in the same camp as Bader - and didnt have much good to say about him ....

besides he could fly planes and kill Germans .....

escaped three times - and ended up in Spangenburg
which was looked on as the remove class for Colditz....
( for bad boys but not very bad boys )
P**ki has been used as an insult for at least 30 years it is unacceptable.
'Pole' is the correct designation for someone from Poland it is not an insult,
Ozzy is OK, they use it themselves all the time, but the rest are insults.

///A scotch person, A jock///

I think calling a Scot scotch, especially with a lower case 's' is fairly insulting, more so than calling them a jock, also lower case I note.
It's when you call an Indian person a '***' that the problem arose originally, or a Sri Lankan or a Bangladeshi. People from the sub-continent took offence, in much the same way as we would if called e.g. 'kraut'.

Where I came from you insulted Poles by calling them pole acks
Ultimately it's all in the context, not the word.

As in Kipling's Fuzzy Wuzzy http://allpoetry.com/Fuzzy-Wuzzy
