This is weird. Today I have received 2 copies of Alan Johnson's book " This Boy" from Amazon, in 2 separate packages. I did browse on Amazon the other day but I certainly didn't order anything. Even if I had I wouldn't order 2 copies of the same book. Has this ever happened to anybody else ?

I have doubled-checked in my bank account and on Amazon but there is no sign of any orders. I have looked at the Amazon site but there doesn't seem to anywhere I can raise this particular problem. Not sure what to do now.

Its all very curious !

Doubt if Amazon will want them back mikey even if you could raise the question. I would just read one and give the other away - or donate both to a charity shop.
you can mail them if you want..but if there is no mention and no dosh has been taken i'd not bother ...unlikely amazon will ask you to return as there will be costs..happened to me with dvds told me just to keep them..
yiou're not missing any order you did make, that might have got switched with someone else's?
If you sign in to Amazon and click help, there is a contact us buttom on the right. It then asks you to click on the subject and you can input your phone number and they will phone you. They might email you a return label and you can then send them back. Or you could not bother and sell them on Ebay..

Thanks everybody. No jno, I don't think so. I have hardly ordered anything from Amazon for ages now. I disapprove of their shyster business model...crap working conditions and an unwillingness to see any need to pay any taxes here in the UK. So I can't see that it getting mixed up with anything else !

Perhaps I will put them on ebay, or as is suggested, donate them to a charity shop.
mikey, eBay avoid UK taxes, too as does their other company PayPal

HC...thanks ..I wasn't aware of that.
...I believe that both Amazon and eBay pay the taxes that they are legally obliged to pay....so what's the problem?
Mikey - a similar thing happened to me on the Tesco direct site. I got a book that I had not ordered. I phoned to query it and was told that I should keep the book and there was no problems with my account.

Later my account was raided and my clubcard tokens stolen. I got them back.

Check with Amazon.
Contact them free on 0800 496 1081.

Watch as it maybe a con with delivery driver think I heard about to few weeks ago.
heard that one monster..if someone appears on doorstep...tell them you've already sent them back !...get vehicle registration and call cops ! that'll teach 'em !
ministers have been urging people to boycott Amazon to encourage them to pay more tax. I find this repellent. Amazon pay the taxes they owe. If the government want them to pay more, they have the power to change the law and impose higher taxes. Being in thrall to business, they won't do so. Instead they want consumers to do their work for them by buying from outlets that charge more.

Don't play their little game, mikey!

I have sent an email query to Amazon, and I will let everybody know what the outcome is !
You could phone them on 0800 496 1081
Yeah....they sent me some aerosol sprays. They didn't charge me and they didn't want them back.
You're lucky, Mikey.....I got a duck with a d..........☺
before you give the books away, read it first, its a good story.
The only time this has happened to me, ( Manchester kit for a ten year old) I had been cloned.

I agree that your account should show what you have ordered and mine always has.

Problem sorted out ! I actually ordered this on Ebay, after browsing on Amazon. I sent a message to the retailer on Ebay, asking them if they could shed any light on this mystery. It turned out that the retailer is away on a brief holiday abroad and had Amazon send the book to me, just to keep the business. The retailer did this on a tablet PC in her hotel room ! I am not sure if the extra copy was her fault or Amazon. So I will send the unwanted copy back to her directly.

There had to be a simple answer to this, as despite what I have said about Amazon, they have always been very reliable in the past.

I am looking forward to reading the book, as everybody has said how good it is. Just as soon as I finish the current "Blandings" book I am reading, I will give it a go ! Uncle Fred must come first !
