When a film is downloaded say using LimeWire: What is the best format to download and what is the average size of a feature length film to ensure you get a decent format.

a DivX-encoded .avi file can be pretty decent at about 700MB: just the right size to put on a CD-R.

Yes, but be aware that windows media player often won't play DIVX files without extra codecs and even when it does play it often can be jerky and a bit odd. Find and download DIVX player and use that it is much better.


You must be lucky with your downloads, I usually just have to take whatever format I can find and don't get the chance to choose the format.

Hi boobesque, at my age I can't be bothered to watch films on the telly let alone download pirate stuff, however I do look for and download as much documentary stuff as I can get my hands on, thanks for your concern anyway.
