I downloaded files via uTorrent; it took forever but looks successful, but now I can't figure out how to actually watch the movie I downloaded! Each time I click on the icon for the movie, it takes me back to the uTorrent source, but I don't want to download it all over again. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong?

When you use torrents you download two main files, the small torrent file, and the larger movie files or files.

It sounds to me like you are clicking on the torrent file not the movie file.

Find the directory where it download the movie (look in your client, Azareus or whatever, for that)

Go to the directory where the movie file is (AVI or MPG file for example) and double click on that.

vehelpful guy,

Thanks! You were totally right on! Unfortunately, I downloaded again and movies are now being saved to my Windows Media player even though I'm not downloading music! That makes it kinda hard to watch them, although I can hear everything being said. I just assumed the uTorrents, once downloaded and mostly seeded, would allow me the option of saving to where I wanted to like it did the first time. Now it just automatically downloads to my music player instead of the VLC player. I tried to be careful in selecting the correct torrent (meaning video files and not music files, but I could be doing something wrong.) Help again?
I use uTorrent and when a download has finished it saves all the files in a folder called 'Downloads' which is in My Documents. I think it does this by default. You should find the actual movie file (.avi, .mpeg or whatever) in here and be able to select which player you want.
Hope this helps!

Lost Sheep,

You're right. I was able to locate the file in Downloads/My Documents, but my question was: "Why does it keep downloading as a music file?" Is there a way for me to move it from my Windows Media Player to my VLC Player and watch it, or do I have to go through the majorly long process of downloading it yet again? This uTorrent stuff is not worth the time it takes to figure out even the basics. Arrrgh!
Find the movie file in your 'Documents' folder, right-click on it and go to 'Open with' then 'Choose program..'. In the box that appears select VLC player and then tick the box 'Always use the selected program.....'. Hope this helps!

Lost Sheep and VeHelpfulGuy,

Between the two of you, I was finally able to watch a movie! You're both totally brilliant! Now that you've de-mystified at least the basics of uTorrent for me, (something that all of the uTorrent help sites couldn't do because the computer heads on those sites use so much coded language that only other computer heads can understand what they're saying), but with the help of the two of you, I feel more confident in sticking with uTorrent and downloading more stuff. Thanks for the great help!
