Can anyone help please? I can't seem to highlight text this morning for copying and pasting from documents. Could it be that my mouse has given up on me (its a 3D optical mouse) or is it a more technical problem with software etc. I have noticed recently when typing that I often seem to be ahead of the text appearing on screen which is so frustrating having to wait until it catches up! Would appreciate any help please. Thanks.

have you tried triple-left-clicking on the text you want to highlight?

I use Firefox and am on Windows XP.
Put the cursor at one end of the text you want to highlight and then use Shift+arrow key to highlight the characters; if you use the Ctrl key at the same time then the cursor will jump a word at a time, which is quicker most times).

Anyone know about the slow reaction to typing problem?
Clearing the browser cache might have an effect (but no guarantees) - this tells you how https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-clear-firefox-cache?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=How+to+clear+the+cache (but it's not quite up-to-date with the screenshots)
Slow reaction to typing can occur for all sorts of reasons, from a bad keyboard connection, to something related to the screen, or perhaps a slow computer due to to much running all at once. There is a comprehensive post here that hopefully will cover most or all the possible causes, and their solutions:

That link I've provided doesn't cover all the possible causes, actually -- but still might be useful.
Is this just typing text in general or text on websites?

Details of your pc please, how much fitted memory and processor, laptop or desktop.

It may well be you have too many processes running at the same time thus hogging all your resources.
jim360's link is good, pay particular attention to the bit about MSCONFIG
I get that sort of issue, particularly on the smart handset. Probably something else is using all the resources and your PC is having to share and swop things around, which takes time.

Thanks to all - the highlighting problem seems to be sorted now. Read the link and cleared the cache and seems ok for now - fingers crossed!
