Hi everyone!

I want to make CD for my mum for Mother's Day with loads of songs that she likes. She's 46 (in case that helps) and I need some suggestions, please, of older artists and songs.

I've got three so far; Foreigner, John Miles and Eurythmics- in case that gives you an idea about what she might like. She quites like recent slushy ones too.

Thanks in advance- what would I do without you all? x

That opera blokes group, cant remember what you call them. Simon X Factors new group
I think you're thinking of Il Divo, DMA, and G4 are another similar group. whiskeysheri, does your mum like Abba, or Kate Bush, early Simply Red or Morrisey? there's a song by Morrisey called Suede Head that's good. Rose Royce ' Wishing on a Star' she may like too

Van morrison - Brown eyed girl

Why not look on HMV website at the mum compilations theres like 6 in the compilation chart right now for ideas

Fleetwood Mac

Al Green

Van Morrison

The Carpenters

Eric Clapton

Elton John

Chicago

there is a new cd out for mothers day called World's Best Mum. When I heard the advert I felt alot of the songs were appropriate to telling your mum how much she meant to you - cannot remember them all things like Because of you - Kelly Clarkson , All Time Love - Will Young and All the Love in the World - Dionne Warwick. Maybe 'google' it and you will get some more ideas. Good one!
I dont know it this will be any good but this tells you what was number one on any given date and may bring back some memories for her

you could use this to find out what was number 1 when your mum was born, her 16th, 18th, 21st birthdays and other memorable events perhaps?
I know when I hear certain songs it invokes memories of various stages in my life!

Hope this helps.

And don't forget to stick a couple of Westlife in there - mams always like Westlife
Your lucky mum was prime age for being a punk! I am jealous; would have loved that era. I guess from the sounds of it she isn't a fan of Sid Vicious' version of My Way? ;)

Thanks for your suggestions, they were all brilliant! I've now got a CD full of Simply Red, The Carpenters, Kate Bush, etc (not really my taste). Thanks so much, she should love it!
