A plate of new season English asparagus and homemade Hollandaise......yum!

The start of the asparagus season is the highlight of my year, what do you look forward to seeing appear?

I'm looking in the supermarkets at the moment for the first Kentish strawberries - the ones on sale look delish at the moment, but they're from SPAIN>

There are English strawberries about but you need to hunt them out, personally I'd rather wait for longer days before I buy any.

I try to eat seasonally and buy British and ideally locally produce.

Ah eccles, but we have Planet Thanet up the road - the biggest glasshouses for our early produce.....

I do that with blackberries, bernie - no hedge is safe when I'm around :-)

Love PYO strawberries, plenty of places in my neck of the woods and like bernie eat more than you weigh in.

I have environmental issues with Planet Thanet and its brother in Sussex :-(

English strawbs were in the shops a week earlier than last year, but the supply is limited.

I'll happily wait for the natural season when they get real sunshine for a natural period each day :-)
