My good lady Carakeel came to pick me up from work at 10pm last night and picked up a nail in the rear tyre on route and the tyre was now flat.

Ok not a big issue, call RAC and they will sort it, the RAC duly arrived about 2 hours later, they couldnt do anything with the tyre and as the car doesnt carry a spare they had to transport the car back to our farm about 15 miles away.

The problem there was they arrived in a large car transporter to collect the car, there was no way that vehicle was never going to get up the half mile track to the farm and there is no way that Carakeel could walk that that far up a steep uneven track made even worse by the heavy snow that was now falling. So we were unloaded at the bottom of the track. we then had to drive the car up the track on a totally flat tyre, a new totally flat Pirrelli tyre that was only fitted last week!

So today we need to call out a mobile unit to replace the tyre. Thankfully we don't need to pay for this as it is a motability car and they foot the bill but what a fiasco, it was about 1 am by the time we eventually got home, but we did get home safe and sound and very thankful for the fantastic motability scheme.

Mikey, we have a Citroen Grande Piccasso (C4) and no, nowhere for a spare wheel.
Isn't there a local tyre fitter that can come out to you sooner than your present arrangement ? I don't know very much about your situation but as you have a disabled person involved, the service you are getting isn't very good to say the least. If I lived closer, I would willingly collect the tyre and get it fixed for you. You have my sympathy ratter !
I think a lot of cars nowadays are produced without a spare wheel or a storage space for a spare wheel. We have a Vauxhall Zafira with no spare wheel but we have a kit thing for re inflating the tyre.
I had a puncture within the first week of having the car and had to buy a new tyre because the other one was damaged. When I asked the garage why there was no spare they told me that some manufactures don't supply them in order to reduce the weight of the car and to lessen emissions, or something like that.

It is a pain though. Even more so in your position, Ratter.

Thanks Mikey but all tyre repairs etc. have to be carried out by Quickfit, we are now just waiting for the recovery truck to arrive again.
Why can't a neighbour just collect the wheel and go to the nearest tyre depot and have it fixed ? I don't know where you live but I presume you are in the sticks, if that is not too an insulting word to use ! If this Citroen is your only car, than you are somewhat stranded until the problem is fixed. Also not sure why the whole bl**dy car has to be towed away, when its just a tyre that needs fixing. I know that you are under the Motability scheme but it would seem to me that there is a much quicker way to solve this problem. As long as the tyre and wheel is not damaged, it shouldn't be an expensive thing to put right either.

My offer to collect the tyre is still open ratter ...I live in Swansea !

Mikey, many thanks for your offer, we are the other side of Rhayader so a fair trot from you and the wheel would need to go to quickfit in Newtown so even further.

The recovery truck will be here in a few minutes, they have just phoned, so off to Newtown now, Oh well, we may have to treat ourselves to a full English Breakfast while we are waiting :-)

I imagine the tyre is a right off due to me driving it up a very rough half mile track to get home last night. I now have to drive it back down again.
Then you live in a beautiful part of the Principality ratter ! I often take a run up to the Elan Valley reservoirs when I have a day off. My favourite is the Claerwen.

Hope you are rescued soon and enjoy that breakfast. It reminds me that I haven't had mine yet. This bl**dy AB thing is so addictive !

OK so we are now eating faggots, chips and peas while waiting for the tyre to be fixed, very nice it is as well :-)
