It might be my impression, and please out me right iffy think I'm talking cobblers (quite likely) - but are the 'new right' the 21st century version of the 'old Left'?

Is it true that the old Left have been take over in terms of the amount of whingeing they do by the New Right?

if you mean Tory internal squabbles, they still seem to be deeply divided, as Labour were in opposition in the 1980s. The fact that they're in power (or at least in coalition) hasn't stopped them, which is surprising; I put it down to the fact that they don't really expect to win the next election, so they're jockeying for position. I presume Gove's dig at the Eton mafia is intended to undermine not just Cameron and Osborne but Boris, a potential rival for the top job.
It's an interesting theory. A possible difference is that the new right are whingeing about things they think they used to have being taken away from them, whereas the old left where whingeing about never being given the things they thought they were entitled to.
No debate from AB's resident fascists? (save R-one). They must have fallen asleep into their Daily Mails, bless their union-jack patterned woolen cotton socks!
With respect sp1814, your OP is rather confused. The reason that the left rose up and got organised a hundred years ago in Britain was that there was wide-spread poverty and deprivation amongst working people. The Liberal Party were powerless to do anything at the time against the ravages of the rich and powerful, so the Labour Party emerged to take up the baton. So I am a bit confused how the right can be a replacement for the left.

Not cobblers, just confused !

Just re-read my post. What gibberish (coupled with an over-active autocorrect).
I have no idea wht you are getting at.

The left and right have complained in equal measure for a lng time. The right might be getting a little more desperate. They were 13 years in opposition and then failed to win the last general election. It must be frustrating for them to be saddled with the LibDems and the knowledge that they are headed to go into opposition again soon.

The left whinged when Thatcher/major held 4 terms. The right whinging is entirely understandable.

Late night, couple of glasses of wine, quick check on AB before bed, write some gibberish, hit return. We've all done it - I know I have.
